Description

The cottages at 7, 9, and 11 Clough Lane date from the early 18th and early 19th centuries. They are constructed of watershot squared rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The cottages form a single-depth, L-shaped range of three bays and two storeys. Stone quoins are present. Bays 2 and 3, originally a single house (now occupied by numbers 9 and 11), have 4, 3, and 2-light double-chamfered stone mullion windows, although most have been cemented over. A 20th-century porch is located on bay 3, and bay 2 has a square-cut door surround. Bay 1, built in the early 19th century, features a basket-headed chamfered door surround and 4 and 5-light flat-faced stone mullion windows. A 20th-century cottage to the rear of bay 1 is not included in this listing. A rear wing extending from bay 3 has a 4-light recessed flat-faced mullion window on the ground floor, and a similar 6-light window on the first floor, but with cavetto-moulded mullions. Ridge chimney stacks are present.
