Description
No 102 on Lower Wellhouse Road in Slaithwaite is a mid-19th century pair of weavers' houses, part of a group of similar buildings. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof with coped gables and moulded stone brackets. It has three storeys and three stacks, one of which is made of ashlar and has a string course.
On the south elevation, the ground floor has two central entrances with stone surrounds and tie-stones, featuring a large common jamb. There is also one three-light stone mullioned window and a single light. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows, while the second floor also has two three-light stone mullioned windows.
The north elevation has a ground floor that is back to earth. The first floor features an entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, along with one four-light stone mullioned window. The second floor has one former three-light stone mullioned window that has been converted into an entrance with a single light and a later open stair leading to the doorway, as well as one three-light stone mullioned window. The west gable contains a former loading door that is now blocked. This building is included for its group value.
