Description
46 Upper Wellhouse is an early to mid 19th century weaver's cottage, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone slate roof. The gable is coped and features stone brackets. The building stands three storeys tall.
On the southeast elevation, all windows have rounded heads. The ground floor has a new central entrance with stone surrounds and tie-stones, alongside one 4-light stone mullioned window and one 6-light stone mullioned window. The first floor features one 4-light stone mullioned window and one 7-light stone mullioned window, although two mullions have been removed. The second floor is distinguished by a large 15-light stone mullioned window.
The northwest elevation includes a ground floor with one 3-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has an entrance with stone surrounds and tie-stones, along with one 3-light stone mullioned window, from which one mullion has been removed. The second floor contains a former entrance with stone surrounds and tie-stones, which is partially blocked.
