Description
Nos. 179 and 181 on Knowl Road are two houses built in the early to mid 19th century, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone slate roof. They are two storeys high and form part of a row of houses.
On the west elevation, No. 179 features a ground floor entrance with stone surrounds and a four-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows. No. 181 also has a ground floor entrance with stone surrounds, including one tie-stone, and a five-light stone mullioned window. Its first floor contains an eight-light stone mullioned window, although two of the lights are blocked, resulting in two three-light windows. All the windows on the west elevation have rounded heads.
On the east elevation, No. 179 has a first floor three-light stone mullioned window, with one light blocked, and the lights also feature rounded heads. No. 181's ground floor is back to earth, and its first floor has a two-light stone mullioned window.
