Description

This is an 18th-century farm, originally two cottages with barns in between, now combined into a single dwelling. The exterior is hammer-dressed stone, partially rendered, with quoins. Window and door surrounds are made of millstone grit. The roof is pitched with stone slate, featuring a coped gable with a chamfered underside. Millstone grit forms the footstones, and the building is two storeys high.

The south-east elevation of No. 2 Laund Farm features a central doorway on the ground floor, distinguished by large millstone grit quoins and a deep lintel. The lintel includes a datestone and initials within a carved motif, typical of the 17th century, although partially obscured by an electric lamp. To the right of the doorway is a three-light stone mullioned window where the mullions have been removed, followed by a four-light window with two removed mullions, and then a single light with a stone surround. The first floor mirrors the ground floor with a three-light and a four-light stone mullioned window, both lacking their original mullions. The rear of the building is rendered and has two projections, which may have served as corbels supporting a canopy over a former doorway.

Barns adjoining the cottages to the north-east have outshut extensions to the south-east. No. 1 Laund Farm, also to the north-east, is a single-storey structure with a pitched stone slate roof and a rendered exterior. Its south-east elevation includes an entrance and a three-light stone mullioned window, again with the mullions removed.
