School, former art school. c.1871 probably by John Gibson who designed Centre Vale House of the same date. Hammer-dressed stone, slate roof. Gothic Revival. Single storey central hall with 2-storey cross-wings to either end. Runs north to south. West face of 5 bays each gabled with copings and moulded finials. 1st bay has canted bay window with cusped lights and sunken spandrels. Over 2 similar lights with quatrefoil to apex in sunken pointed arch. Central 3 bays, tall windows of 3 lights to outer, and 4 to middle, with circle over, decorated. Gabled porch set in angle between 4th and 5th bay has pointed arched doorway. 5th bay formed by cross-wing with 3-light window to ground floor and 2-light over matching northern cross-wing all with shouldered arches. Right hand return wall of 3 bays each with gabled dormers with 2-light windows. Central doorway protected by gabled porch with pointed arch, hoodmould, coping and finial. To either side windows of 3 cusped lights with relieving arch over. 2 stacks to ridge. East face has similar detail with bays 2 and 4 with curvilinear tracery and central bay with large rose window with cusped star of David.
