Description

Princess House, formerly known as Colne Hall, is a house built in 1867, showcasing Gothic revival architecture. The structure is made of stone and topped with a steep slate roof that features stone coping. It stands two storeys tall.

On the left side, there is a gabled wing that includes a five-light bay window with pointed arch-headed lights, complemented by a dentilled parapet with moulded, stepped coping. The first floor has a three-light sash window set within a two-centre arched head, featuring plate tracery with an octofoil design. To the right, there is another three-light sash window with pointed arched heads, situated in a segmental relieving arch. The first floor also has two two-light sash windows with flat heads, each adorned with tympana pierced with quatrefoils, and twin gablets above. All gables display a circular recessed decoration. The windows are framed by granite pillars in front of the mullions, which are topped with water-leaf capitals, and feature moulded dripstones with carved stops.

A parapeted porch is located at the angle with the wing, supported by granite pillars and featuring trilobe arches. The circular motif is repeated in the balustrade. The south elevation includes an oriel window with three two-centre arch-headed lights. Inside, notable features include a dog-leg staircase with wrought iron balusters, a moulded archway in the entrance porch, a moulded ceiling, and a stained glass skylight.
