Description
Rawson Field is a house that was originally a laithe house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of watershot masonry and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features quoins. The windows are all double chamfered mullioned types with nearly square reveals. On the left side, there is an 8-light window with a 7-light window above it, which includes a king mullion. To the right, a tall doorway from the 19th century with monolithic jambs is accompanied by a 4-light window below and another similar window above. Some of the mullions have been removed, and modern glazing has been added. The building has stone gutter brackets and a single-storey gabled extension on the left return wall, which also has quoins and a dressed stack at the gable. The original entry to this extension is marked by a doorway with tie-stones and a simple chamfered surround. There are two stacks on the ridge. The attached barn that has been converted is not included in this listing.
