Description

A house, now divided into three separate residences, was built in the late 17th century. Constructed from large dressed stone, the roof is slate at the front and stone slate at the rear. The building originally comprised three rooms, arranged around a through passage, and presents a facade of three bays. The first bay has a chamfered mullioned window with four lights, and a smaller matching window above, both missing two mullions. A 19th-century doorway, with large stone jambs, is centrally positioned. The second bay features a doorway created from large stones, secured with ties, a square lintel, and a chamfered surround. This doorway is sheltered by a contemporary gabled porch, featuring kneelers and a base for a finial at the apex. A double-chamfered mullioned window, originally of six lights with the centre two lowered to form a larger opening, is present. Above this is a double-chamfered mullioned window with four lights, also lacking two mullions. The third bay is characterised by a double-chamfered mullioned window of three lights, with a hoodmould, and a matching window of four lights above, from which two mullions have been removed; it also has a 19th-century doorway with monolithic jambs. A 17th-century chimney stack is located along the ridge above the through passage, while an early 19th-century stack stands at the junction of the second and third cells. A projecting stack with offsets is visible on the right-hand return wall. At the rear, original windows remain, including a five-light chamfered mullioned window (with two mullions removed) and a three-light window (also with two mullions removed), both on the first floor, in the outer cells.
