Description
Nos 1 and 2 Delph Hill Lane are a pair of cottages built in the early to mid-19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared stone and feature a stone slate roof. The cottages are situated on a hillside and are two storeys tall, with No 1 having a cellar. Each cottage has one bay and four first-floor windows. The entrances are located to the right of a square window, with two similar windows above and two basement openings for No 1, all of which have plain stone surrounds. The steps leading up to the door of No 1 are no longer present. Each cottage has an end stack on the left, with No 1's stack set forward of the ridge. These cottages were likely built to accommodate workers from the Murgatroyd's mill complex at Oats Royd, Ails Lane.
