Description

A house divided into two occupations, dated 1598, with an addition to the east dating to the early 18th century. The building is constructed of large dressed stone with a stone slate roof. Originally a single-storey dwelling, it was raised to two storeys in the early 18th century, resulting in a three-room plan.

The front façade features double-chamfered mullioned windows with a deep outer splay and hollow chamfered mullions on the ground floor. First-floor windows have simpler chamfering. A four-light window with a two-light window above is present, alongside an inserted doorway located adjacent to the five-light window with a two-light window above. The doorway lintel is carved with the date 1598 and has a deeply chamfered surround. A two-light chamfered window, lacking a mullion, sits above a two-light window. Two stacks run parallel along the ridge, one positioned against the original entry. Coped gables with kneelers top the structure.

The rear of the property features a two-light chamfered window without mullions, positioned next to a blocked doorway with a deeply chamfered surround. This doorway, despite its front-facing location, leads into a service room rather than a passage. A three-light chamfered window is located to the right. Three chamfered windows of two lights are present on the first floor.

A two-storey cell was attached when the main house was raised to two storeys. This cell features quoins and a single ridge stack. Three-light chamfered mullioned windows with a two-light window above are present. A further addition, dating to approximately 1975 and designed to be in keeping with the original building, is also attached.
