Description
Heyhead Farmhouse and the attached barn and stable date from the late 17th century. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of two cells. The south front features double chamfered mullioned windows on the ground floor, including a 2-light fire-window that lacks a mullion and a 4-light housebody window that is missing two mullions. There is an inserted doorway with tie-stones and another 2-light window. On the first floor, there are two square windows with modern glazing. The left-hand return wall has a stack at the gable and a blocked 2-light double chamfered mullioned window. The rear of the farmhouse has another similar window and an outshut under a catslide roof with 19th-century walling. There is one additional stack.
Attached to the east end of the farmhouse is a single-aisled barn with two bays, which projects forward to the south under a catslide roof that aligns with the main range. The barn has a square-headed cart entry to the rear, set within a portal at the front, which includes a mistal door in the re-entrant angle. The barn features a coped gable. To the west end of the farmhouse, there is a stable from the 19th century that also breaks forward.
