Description
Numbers 7 and 8 Higher Langfield Cottages, along with the attached barn, are a pair of cottages that now function as a single dwelling. They date from the mid-18th century and are constructed from hammer-dressed stone, featuring ashlar quoins and a convex moulded stone gutter, topped with a stone slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have paired doorways with monolithic jambs on either side. The windows are chamfered, forming a single large light that was originally two wide lights, with a visible scar of the central mullion. The gables are coped, and there are three stacks along the ridge. At the eastern end, there is a large early 19th-century barn that runs north to south, which includes rectangular ventilators in the gable. The barn features a tall segmental arched cart entry with projecting imposts and a keystone, and above it is a semi-circular arched window with similar detailing. The cottages and barn are listed for their group value.
