Description

Edge End Farmhouse and the attached barn date from the mid 17th century and are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a three-room plan with a gable entry. The ground floor has double chamfered mullioned windows, while the first floor has chamfered mullioned windows, although some mullions have been removed. The window arrangement includes a 4-light window with a similar window above it, another 4-light window with the same above, and a 2-light fire window with a similar window above. There is also an altered window with a mid 20th-century chamfered surround and a similar window above it.

The right-hand return wall has an extruded stack with offsets and a single-storey gabled porch that features copings and kneelers, along with a basket-arched lintel. The inner doorway has a similar lintel. The rear has a coped gable with an outshut under a catslide roof and two stacks at the ridge. The barn, which is attached to the left-hand end of the farmhouse, projects forward and has a coped gable topped with a crocketed finial.
