Description
There are two standing stones located to the north and south of the lane between Stones Grange Farm and Stones Farm. These stones are of uncertain age, but they may date back to prehistoric times. They are roughly hewn and square in shape. The northern stone is approximately 12 feet tall, while the southern stone is smaller and more pointed. These stones are likely the reason the area is named "Stones." The earliest record of the site dates back to the reign of Henry III, from 1216 to 1272, mentioning a Henry de Stones.
