Description
Warland Farm and Warland Farm Cottage are a house divided into two occupations built in the mid-17th century, with alterations and additions dating to the mid-19th century. The construction is of thin coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and the roof is covered in stone slate. The house is a long range with a five-bay front. The first bay features a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window above a single window. The second bay has a late 19th-century bay window with three double-chamfered mullioned windows of two lights above. The third bay contains a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window, likely originally a fire-window, and a 19th-century doorway with large tie-stones, above which is a three-light flat-faced mullioned window. The fourth bay has an altered double-chamfered mullioned window retaining two mullions, with a single three-light flat-faced mullioned window above. Quoins mark the division of the fourth and fifth bays, one of which is carved in relief with "1655 Fâ. The fifth bay displays watershot masonry, a doorway with large tie-stones, and an altered flat-faced mullioned window. Four stacks rise from the ridge. A single arch-headed light to the first floor is visible on the left-hand return wall. A later, pebble-dashed extension is attached to the right-hand return wall, and is not included in the listing.
