Description
Lodge Hall is an early 18th-century laithe-house constructed from hammer-dressed stone with rough-dressed quoins and a stone slate roof. The building consists of a two-cell house that is two storeys high. It features a central gabled porch with a doorway that has quoined tie-stones. Both floors have chamfered mullioned windows with three wide lights, some of which have flat-faced mullions.
To the left of the house is a barn that includes a cart entry with tie-stones and a heavy lintel, which has a chamfered surround. There is also a mistal door to the left that is similar in design. The right-hand return wall of the building was rebuilt in the mid-20th century. The rear displays watershot masonry and has a similar cart entry at the front. The ground floor features a five-light chamfered mullioned window, and there is a taking-in door on the first floor with tie-stones. The building has one stack at the ridge. Lodge Hall is an early example of a laithe house and shares a similar character with Henshaw Farmhouse on Henshaw Road.
