Description

Lumbutts House is a mid-19th century house, originally built for the owners of Lumbutts Old Mill. The house is constructed of ashlar stone with a stone slate roof. The front facade is symmetrical, with three bays, and features rusticated quoins, an eaves band, and moulded gutter brackets. The doorway has a plain stone surround and a cornice with a convex moulding. Sashed windows are set within plain stone surrounds with projecting sills. Coped gables with kneelers are present, along with a single stack to the ridge. The right-hand return wall includes a stilted arch carriage entry on skewbacks, as well as a three-light, flat-faced mullioned window on each floor. The rear elevation, two stories in height, features two doorways (the right-hand one now a window) and a three-light window on each floor.
