Description
This barn, located 15 meters to the west of Hill House Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a stone slate roof. The barn features square-headed cart entries and mistal doorways on either side, one of which has composite jambs and a chamfered surround. The left-hand return wall includes arrow slit ventilators and has a coped gable with kneelers. At the rear, there is a mid-20th-century wooden outbuilding that covers the original tall cart entry, which also has a chamfered surround. Inside, there is a re-used cruck principal with a half-lap joint serving as a lintel over the cart entry, and the roof is supported by softwood queen posts. The barn is listed for its group value with the surrounding buildings.
