Description

Stephenson House is a late 18th-century house with an attached barn added in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has quoins. The layout consists of a three-room linear plan. Each floor has two bays with five-light flat-faced mullioned windows. The third cell includes a five-light chamfered mullioned window, with a six-light flat-faced mullioned window above it. There are quoins marking the division between the house and the barn, which has a basket-arched cart entry and a simple Venetian window above. The mistal doorway has a chamfered surround, and the right-hand return wall of the barn features rectangular ventilators on the gable wall. The roof has three stacks. Inside the third cell, there is a fireplace with a chamfered surround and a segmental arched lintel supported by corbelled jambs.
