Description

Owlers is a house originally dating to the mid-17th century, which was raised to two storeys in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building has a two-cell plan and quoins. A doorway with monolithic jambs has a stop-chamfered surround. A double-chamfered mullioned window of five lights has a lintel dated 1746, while another double-chamfered mullioned window has four lights. The first floor features chamfered mullioned windows of two and three lights. A two-light double-chamfered mullioned window is located on the left-hand return wall. The building has a coped gable with kneelers and two stacks. The interior reveals an earlier roof line in the gable, indicating the raising of the roof in the 18th century.
