Description
Lumb Cottage is a house likely dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, and features quoins. The building is four storeys high, descending to ground level. It has two bays, each containing four-light chamfered mullioned windows. Notably, two mullions are missing from each floor above the ground floor. The ground floor window on the right-hand side has a doorway with tie-stone jambs. A garage door has been cut into the wall to the left of this window. Return walls incorporate doorways to the second floor and four-light chamfered mullioned windows that have been altered to two-light openings. Gable stacks are present, along with a stack on the ridge. The rear elevation includes two doorways, one of which is blocked, leading to the fourth floor, and a cobbled area in front.
