Description
Lower Slater Ing is a house dating from the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of large rough dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and features a three-room through-passage plan.
On the south front, all ground floor windows are double chamfered mullioned and do not have hoodmoulds. The first floor windows are from the 19th century and are flat faced mullioned. There is a four-light window with a five-light window above it, and a doorway with a straight lintel and a stop chamfered surround. Additional windows include a two-light fire-window, a six-light window with a king mullion in the housebody, and a ten-light window above on the first floor. The rear of the house has a chamfered mullioned window with four lights and a similar window above it.
There is a single-storey gabled extension that projects forward at right angles and features a gable stack. To the left of the added gabled porch, which is also at right angles, there is a two-light window in the through-passage position. The house has one gable stack for the parlour and another stack on the ridge that backs onto the hearth passage.
