Description
This guide post, located at the fork of the road between Burnley Road and Widdop Road, is likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is a monolith with dressed faces. The south face is inscribed, as well as the northeast face, and both west faces feature inscriptions. The inscriptions indicate directions and distances: "TO BURNLY 11 Miles" with a hand pointing to the left, "TO COLNE 11 Miles" with a hand pointing to the right, "TO HALIFAX 8½ Miles," and "TO HEPTONSTALL ¾ Mile" with hands pointing left and right. Additionally, there is a bench mark at 929.58.
