Description

A barn, likely originating in the early 17th century, was altered in the early 19th century to create cottages. The barn features a segmental arched cart entry set on skewbacks, with a stop-chamfered surround. The central voussoirs are inscribed "1 6 1 9 T N" to one side and “I V NE.7 M N '3" to the other. Three-light, flat-faced mullioned windows are in keeping with the original structure. To the left of the barn entry, a pair of cottages contribute to the building’s character, resembling a laithe-house. These cottages have two cells each, featuring doorways with monolithic jambs and flat-faced mullioned windows containing five lights on the ground floor and six lights on the first floor. The building has coped gables with kneelers and one stack to the ridge.
