Description

This is a row of three cottages, originally an early 18th-century house. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The south front is two storeys high, with a single-storey outshut added in the early 19th century to the rear. The building originally comprised four cells. The first cell features a two-light sash window with a chamfered surround and a mullion, with a two-light chamfered mullioned window above. The second cell has a double-chamfered mullioned window of seven lights; above this is a single chamfered light and a four-light chamfered window. The doorway has composite jambs with a chamfered surround and a stop with a square lintel. The third cell has a three-light window that has been broken through to create a doorway; above this is a double-chamfered window with sawn-off mullions, formerly of three lights. The fourth cell has a double-chamfered window that has been broken through to form a doorway, with a four-light window above which lacks a mullion. The rear of the building has quoins and retains a chamfered mullioned window of six lights. The outshut has a nine-light flat-faced mullioned window. There are three stacks to the ridge. Inside, the building preserves a fireplace with a shouldered architrave and a moulded lintel in the former parlour. The layout is of a through-passage plan.
