Description

Ratcher Cottages are a pair of cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of watershot masonry with ashlar quoins and feature a stone slate roof. The south front has three storeys and two bays. Each bay includes a doorway with a sill tie and a flat faced mullioned window with five lights on each floor. The right-hand return wall has a blocked taking-in door leading to the second floor. There is a central stack at the ridge. These cottages were formerly associated with textile manufacture, and a mill dam can be found cut into the hillside just above them.
