II G.V. Includes Nos 2 and 4 (Pex Place), Pex Wood Road. House and engineering works. Formerly Poorhouse for Todmorden. 1804 (first deed). Watershot masonry, ashlar quoins, stone slate roof 3½ storeys. 3 bays to tall gable which fronts road and Rochdale Canal. Central bay slightly offset to left has doorway with large tie-stones and raised lintel. lst floor has single light window broken into doorway (access formerly by gallery now removed). Similar window over to 2nd floor and another retaining mullion forming 2-light window to attic. To either side wide flat faced mullioned windows of 2 lights to each floor (altered glazing). Rear back to earth. Return walls have doorway with tie-stones to 3rd floor flanked by single light windows.
