South Midgeldon

South Midgelden is a late 17th-century house that has been converted into a farm building. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has quoins. The south front displays altered double chamfered mullioned windows with four and six lights, along with chamfered mullioned windows with four, four, and three lights on the first floor, all having square reveals at the heads and sills. The gable stacks have been reduced to the ridge. At the rear, there is a basket-headed arched doorway with composite jambs, which is protected by a stone hood on moulded corbels. Attached at a right angle is an early 18th-century range that includes flat-faced mullioned double-framed windows in square reveals, featuring seven lights with nine lights above. These two windows are connected at the left-hand end by a tall cross-window, which likely illuminates the stairwell. There is also a chamfered doorway at the right-hand end.
