Description

North Midgelden is a house, originally built as two single-cell cottages in the late 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is one and a half storeys high. The south front features paired doorways with tie-stones. A four-light mullioned window is positioned to the left, missing two mullions. To the right, at a lower level, is a three-light window, lacking one mullion. The first floor has no windows and the eaves are eight courses of stone above the ground floor window. Attic windows are present in the gables, which also have stacks. The interior of the left-hand cell contains spine beams with a deep curve to the western end; these appear to have originally been cruck blades, reused when the attic floor was inserted.
