Description

Chapel House Farmhouse and the attached barn is a laithe house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof and consists of a two-cell house that shares a roof with the barn. The building stands two storeys high and features large quoins and coped gables with kneelers. The windows are all double chamfered mullioned types, with four lights above and six lights below, although one window lacks a mullion. Between the ground floor windows, there is a wide gabled porch with quoins and a doorway on the eastern side that includes tie-stones. The barn has a stilted arched cart entry and a mistal doorway with a chamfered surround. The right-hand return wall of the barn is gabled and includes rectangular chamfered ventilators. Inside the barn, there is a large pointed stone arch supported by corbelled imposts. The building features two stacks at the ridge and is similar in style to Scout off Cross Lee Road.
