Description
Westfield Gate Farmhouse and the attached barn is a late 18th-century laithe house. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof with a coped gable on the house, complete with moulded kneelers. The building is two storeys high and originally consisted of a pair of cottages that have now been combined into one. The barn is built at right angles to the farmhouse, providing shelter on this high, windy hill site. Each cottage has a doorway with monolithic jambs and a 4-light flat-faced mullioned window on both floors. The barn includes an elliptical arch with a projecting keystone and impost blocks.
