Description
Windhill Gate Farmhouse and its attached outbuildings date from around 1800 and are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with stone slate roofs. The farmhouse is two storeys high and features a symmetrical three-bay facade. The main entrance has monolithic jambs and an overlight, while the windows have plain raised surrounds and there are gable stacks.
At the rear, the outbuildings extend at right angles, with the farmhouse on the left and farm buildings on the right, all facing a courtyard. The farmhouse has a doorway with monolithic jambs and two bays of windows to the right, along with a ridge stack. The farm buildings include a segmental cart-entry with a circular window above it, and a square tower that rises above this entry, featuring an arched columbarium with an impost band and a pyramidal roof. To the right, there is a window on each floor and a doorway at the junction with a barn that is at right angles and has seven bays. This barn has an altered cart-entry and a first-floor doorway that is accessed by a long flight of stone steps.
Inside the barn, there is a fish-bone king-post roof.
