Description
The aqueduct carrying the Halifax Branch Canal over the Hebble Brook is a disused structure built in 1828 by the engineer Thomas Bradley for the Calder and Hebble Navigation Company. It is constructed of ashlar and features a two-arched bridge that is skewed across the river. The arches are formed with segmental rusticated voussoirs, topped with a plain band and a central blank plaque, followed by another plain band and a partly collapsed parapet. On either side of the bridge, there are single ashlar piers, leading to curved rock-faced abutments that are finished with outer ashlar piers.
