Description
Abbott's Ladies Home is an almshouse built around 1870 by F. Swindon-Barber. It features coursed rubble construction with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs with ashlar coped gables topped with ball finials. The building has a single reduced gable with ridge stacks and a chamfered plinth. The doorway is slightly off center and has a moulded ashlar bow-headed surround with a part glazed eight-panel door. To the left of the entrance is a three-light chamfered mullion window with wooden transom and glazing bar casements. Adjacent to this is a slightly projecting gabled wing that contains a three-light chamfered cross mullion window, also with glazing bar casements.
