Description
This barn, located 10 meters north of Grain, dates partly from the late 17th century but was mostly rebuilt in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of large dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The earliest architectural features can be seen on the elevation facing the house, which includes a mistal doorway with a quoined lintel and a chamfered surround, as well as another doorway featuring a Tudor arch and a chamfered surround. The north elevation, dating from the 19th century, has a tall cart entry with a shouldered lintel and chamfered jambs, along with a simple Venetian window above it. Additionally, there is a doorway to the mistal that has a giant quoined lintel and stop-chamfered monolithic jambs.
