Description
Lane Head is a house from the late 17th century that is now used for agricultural purposes. It features large dressed stone and a stone slate roof, with quoins. The building has two storeys and a two-cell plan with a rear baffle entry. There is a blocked 8-light double chamfered mullioned window and a 2-light window above it. A 19th-century doorway has monolithic rockfaced jambs and a lintel. The left return wall includes a single rectangular chamfered light. The rear has an original doorway near the north gable, featuring composite jambs, a deep lintel, and a chamfered surround. To the left of a mid-20th-century doorway cut into the wall, there is a single arched light with sunken spandrels. The right return wall has large stone footings, a 4-light window, and a 2-light window with a 3-light window above. The interior has been completely gutted, and the roof is made of softwood.
