SD 0519 RIPPONDEN (former U.D.) (off) HOWROYD LANE SE 058195 Barn with attached 10/55 courtyard wall and gate piers 50m to north-north- 27.7.82 west of The Howroyde (formerly listed as Barn at The Howroyde)

GV II

Barn late C18 or early C19. Hammer dressed stone, stone slate roof. Quoins segmental arched cart entry with 2-light flat faced mullioned window over with single light windows to either side. Mistal doorway with monolithic jambs to right, at lower level. Gables have 3 tiers of 6 ventilators square headed to west, round headed to east. Rear has similar fenestration. 6 bay interior with soft-wood queen-post roof.

Barn forms the north side of a yard enclosed by high walls of narrow coursed stone with half-round copings. Rusticated piers topped by stone pyramids form gateway in southern wall.
