ELLAND (OFF FOREST HILL ROAD (north side) Nos. 1 and 2 (Lower Park)

Pair of cottages, late C18 with added barn early C19. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. No. 1 has 4-light thin flat mullioned window doorway with tie stones, and over a 5-light and single light window (some mullions removed). No. 2 has 5-light mullioned window and doorway with tiestones, over which is initialled dateplaque 'EMM 1782', (possibly reset) over a 2-light mullioned window, and single light over door. Barn has elliptical arched-headed opposed entrance with skewback and impost to jambs of 4 bays with one original queen strut truss and 2 later king-post trusses.
