Description

Pickle Top and Barn is a terrace of cottages and a barn dating from the early 19th century, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a pitched stone roof. The barn features a coped gable and moulded footstones. The building is two storeys high.

On the south elevation, No 3 has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, alongside a 3-light stone mullioned window. The first floor contains two 2-light stone mullioned windows, and the east gable has a later single-storey lean-to extension. No 4, which extends to the north with a catslide roof, has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, and a former 4-light stone mullioned window with one mullion removed. The first floor features two 3-light stone mullioned windows.

No 5 has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround and a 3-light stone mullioned window, while the first floor includes a 4-light stone mullioned window. No 6 features a small ground floor entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, a large doorway with a segmental arched head, stone surround, and tie-stones, along with a former 4-light stone mullioned window with two mullions removed, and two 4-light stone mullioned windows.

The barn's south elevation has a small entrance with a stone surround and tie-stones, and a small single light. The west gable includes a large doorway with a stone surround and tie-stones.
