Description
This is a pair of houses located on Longlands Road in Slaithwaite, built in 1739 and 1784, although they are mainly from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed stone, with some areas rendered, and feature a stone slate roof. They stand two stories high and have four windows on the first floor.
On the southwest elevation, the ground floor has an entrance in a modern porch with a datestone from 1739. The entrance is framed with stone surrounds. There is one later 2-light stone mullioned window and one single-light window with a stone surround. There is also a former possible 7-light stone mullioned window, although some alternate mullions have been removed.
On the first floor, there are two former 4-light stone mullioned windows, each with two mullions removed, and two former 3-light stone mullioned windows, all of which have had their mullions removed. The datestone on this elevation reads "R W [Walker] 1784". The roof features shaped kneelers, ashlar coping, and a stone gable finial.
The northeast elevation has single-light windows on the first floor and includes a lean-to extension. A later extension on the southeast gable has one single-light window on each floor and one entrance on the southwest elevation.
