Description
This is a barn located approximately 10 meters southeast of Stock-a-Close Farmhouse, dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble and has a stone slate roof. It features three bays and is a single-aisled structure. The exterior is fairly plain, with a wide doorway in the south wall that has a roughly-dressed triangular-shaped lintel, which is currently blocked. The right-hand gable includes an inserted doorway.
Inside, the barn has a well-preserved timbered roof supported by two king-post trusses, each featuring single angle-struts and straight braces that reach to the ridge. The posts are braced to the tie-beam and arcade-plate, and there are heavy aisle ties.
