Description

The farmhouse dates to the late 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone, with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. The house originally comprised two main sections, arranged in a double-depth plan. The front doorway, originally located towards the right side of the building, now features a small arched window in place of the original surround; the remaining stonework includes deep lintels and tie-stone jambs. The ground floor retains double-chamfered mullioned windows, originally with four lights and now three, set within wide reveals, and another window with five lights altered to four, with a small arched light inserted between the lighting and fire area. The first floor has two flat-faced mullioned windows, each with four lights. The gables are coped and feature kneelers, and a central stack rises from the ridge of the roof. The rear of the house has doorways with tie-stone jambs and windows with double-chamfered surrounds, originally two-light windows with a matching window above, though the mullions have been removed. A single arched window is present on the left-hand return, with a matching window above.
