Description
Norr Fold Farm Barn is a barn dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is timber-framed and features stone cladding from the early to mid-18th century, made of thin coursed rubble with dressed quoins. The roof is covered with stone slates. The barn consists of five bays and has a single aisle. There is a segmental-arched cart-entry located in the aisle, with an inner lintel that is a deeply curved timber, possibly a reused cruck blade. To the right, there is a doorway with a deep lintel and double tie-stone jambs that have a chamfered surround, although this doorway is currently blocked.
Inside, the barn has posts resting on padstones, with convex braces connecting to the tie-beams and arcade plate. The roof is notable for its good oak construction, featuring king-post trusses with single-angle struts.
