Description

This is a manor house with an attached barn, dating from 1684. It was built by the Midgeley family, as evidenced by the initials "I.M.E.M." carved into the stonework, and was significantly altered in the 19th and mid-20th centuries. The house is constructed from hammer-dressed stone, which has been whitewashed, and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a single-storey outshut at the rear. Most of the windows have been altered, although a 4-light chamfered mullioned window remains on the first floor of the first cell. The most notable feature is the gabled porch, which has a doorway with a decorative ogee lintel and datestone above. Kneelers on either side suggest the roof was originally coped. The house has gable stacks with a moulded cornice. Attached to the right is a barn with an altered cart entry. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
