Description
No 1 Hendford Drive is a house built around 1900 by Barry Parker, showcasing an early example of his "Arts and Crafts" design. It is located on a corner site and constructed with local materials. The building is two storeys high, featuring sandstone brick and a partially timber-framed first floor. It has multiple leaded casement windows beneath deep flat eaves and a steeply pitched slate roof with battered chimneys. The ground floor windows are stone mullioned, with one window incorporating a doorway framed in common ashlar. The corner of the house is canted, featuring a heavily corbelled and delicately modelled oriel window. The east front displays a well-balanced design with a long rectangular bay window above a recessed entrance, which includes a low canted bay window next to the door.
