Description

This school house dates from around 1901 and is situated within Byron Primary School. It is constructed of rockfaced stone with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof featuring coped gables and a shouldered gable stack. The building has a chamfered plinth and detailed eaves. It is two storeys high, with a basement and attic.

The front of the building has a central basement opening. The ground floor features a three-light flush mullioned window, while the first floor has two plain windows. The attic contains a reglazed box dormer. The right return side has a door with an overlight set between rusticated cheeks, which support a square oriel window with a ramped parapet. There are single windows to the ground floor on the left and to the first floor on the right, and a window in the attic on the left. The basement and ground floor windows were boarded at the time of survey, and the windows on the front elevation have been reglazed. The interior was not accessible for inspection.
