Description

This is a barn located 20 metres north of Gildersber Cottage, belonging to Mr. Lofthouse, and dates from the early to mid 18th century. The structure is built of rubble brought to course, with dressed quoins and a stone slate roof. It features a central cart entry with quoined angles that leads to an inner doorway set within a portal. To the right, there is a mistal doorway with composite jambs and a chamfered surround. The gables are coped and have kneelers. Inside, the barn has a fish-bone king post roof. This building is included for its group value.
