SE 1337 NE SHIPLEY BINGLEY ROAD (north side) Saltaire

9/61 Tram shed at junction with Clarence Road

GV II

Tram shed. Dated 1904. Hammer-dressed stone. Welsh slate roof. Single-storey with basement to right side due to sloping ground. 2 gabled bays to front, 7 bays long. The front consists of 2 large, square-headed doorways each with an intermediate iron pier and an ashlar joggled lintel with triple keystones. Clasping buttresses and the central pillar have ashlar upper portions with sunk panels. Each gable apex has a square panel with cartouche and foliage enrichment and is surmounted by a small swept triangular pediment. The cartouches have raised letters: "BC "19 and T 04"

Small gabled reception office to right with canted bay. Rear elevation has a Diocletian window to each gable and a lower flat-roofed projection. Left return elevation is divided by buttresses similar to front. A Diocletian window with glazing bars to each bay. Plain windows to right side which returns from the reception office. Continuous roof lights to each pitch of the 2-span roof.
