Description

The Old Bank is a detached executive's house, now used as offices, completed by 1868. It was designed by Lockwood and Mawson for Titus Salt. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof and features two storeys and an attic. The symmetrical three-bay facade includes a central round-arched porch with pilaster jambs. Above the porch is a two-light Venetian Gothic window with a central engaged colonnette, a blind circle in the tympanum, alternately coloured voussoirs, and a slightly pointed hoodmould. A gabled dormer with a round-arched light breaks through the eaves, and there are single-light sash windows in the side bays. A sill band runs along the first floor, and shaped stone brackets support the gutter. Stone stacks with cornices are present on the roof.

The right elevation, facing Saltaire Road, features a gable on the left with a canted bay on the ground floor and a Venetian Gothic window on the first floor, similar to the front. There is a two-light attic window in the gable. The right part of the elevation is set back, and in the angle, there is a later projecting single-storey flat-roofed stone porch. The building is included for its group value and is part of the Saltaire model village.
